After player backlash, World of Warcraft's global cooldown changes will likely be reverted

Last month, the Battle for Azeroth alpha saw a fresh patch which added several abilities to your global cooldown system. Global cooldown prevents players from having the ability to spam virtually all WoW’s abilities you'd like they can, but a short while ago, those abilities haven’t placed on offensive cooldowns - those who allow players to temporarily buff themselves. Changes for the alpha resulted in almost all of those abilities joined the GCD roster, removing many interesting decisions from your game by getting players to only activate their abilities using the press of a single button.

That change proved unpopular, and lots of players popularized forums to create clear their displeasure. The major grievance appeared to be that the changes made the experience feel significantly slower than before, and therefore Blizzard have reverted a few of the abilities thus to their previous state. In the Q&A, game director Ion Hazzikostas stated that “players might find abilities like Heroic Leap and Infernal Strike cool off the GCD,” in addition to abilities like Hunters’ Disengage and several other changes to Fury Warrior Blood Bath.

There are lots of abilities that aren’t changing, however, as Hazzikostas says the c's wanted to “pull back the benefit and power of multiple, stacked cooldowns.” More changes for the system may be on the way, and Blizzard are getting more detailed feedback about the system in the years ahead.

World of Warcraft’s Battle for Azeroth expansion will probably be available on August 14. If you can’t wait that long, you’re fortunate - the Battle for Azeroth beta went live earlier this https://www.mmoah.com/warmane
