Legend of Zelda Rumors of Fans Were "Frustrating" according to Donkey Kong DevelopersWhen Eric Kozlowsky was hired by Retro Studios, it resulted in reports that the team was working on a new Zelda game.

The artist was previously a part of in the PlayStation's Uncharted series and, due to an unknown reason, it led fans to make an alliance. However, Kozlowsky and Retro Studios were developing Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze in the beginning, and after the game's debut was announced, many Zelda fans trashed it because they were hoping for something different. In a recent interview on Kiki Talkz on Kiwi Talkz podcast, Kozlowsky disclosed the reasons for this rumor, which caused discontent for the team developing the game.

"Sometimes it's frustrating since it creates [false expectations]. This was the case when we announced Tropical Freeze. You know, everyone was thinking 'they're working on something like a Zelda game They're working on the next Zelda game', but it wasn't. And we announced Tropical Freeze and it looks phenomenal and it's gorgeous looking but then people go "oh, this is another Donkey Kong.'

And then you know the people are talking about it on Neogaf or some other site and you're like 'oh man it's because everybody thought we were playing a Zelda game. But it's we don't do that. you do buy D2R ladder items.' So it's both and sometimes we get a laugh out of it, but sometimes it becomes uncomfortable when it goes on for a way too long," said Kozlowsky.
